The annual meeting on Enforcement on Counterfeit and Imitation Products by the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism(KPDNKK) was held on 8th December, 2016 at the Putrajaya headquarters.  Government ministries such as The Royal Malaysian Customs, The Royal Malaysian Police , related semi government bodies and industry players were invited for the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Tuan Mohd Roslan Bin Mahayudin, Pengarah Penguatkuasa, KPDNKK. He reported that there are 51 companies representing 377 brand names under the Basket of Brands(BOB) at present, where collective action could be taken. He encouraged more companies to sign up under the BOB scheme though individual request will also be entertained if sufficient and accurate information is given. MASAAM presented its case on fake brake pads and its effect on safety of customers riding bikes using fake products. Other issues reported were on GST enforcement, misuse of the Halal certification, stopping the entry of fake products at entry points and the rise in counterfeit cigarettes and liquor was a major concern.
