Since the first inception of SETC (Small Engine Technology Conference) in 1989, this international conference has increasingly gaining reputation and popularity. This conference is reputed to convene many professionals, academician, engineers, designers, stake-holders, inventors, researchers, universities students, specialists and as well as businessman in the field of small engines and it’s related technology.

SETC is a platform to discuss technical issues relating to the small power source and its applications such as motorcycles, scooters, marine, agricultural and garden equipments, hand tools, ATVs, snowmobiles and snow removal equipment, recreational vehicles and portable power generators excluding the technology of aircrafts and automobiles.

The objective of this conference is to congregate a global forum to exchange technical knowledge in every aspect of small engine product design and manufacturing and also to bring together engineers and  decision makers from industry, academia and government to work toward the improvement of transportation, safety regulated issues, the conservation of energy and the protection of the environment.

 

This event is jointly sponsored by JSAE (Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan) and SAE International (USA).

 

JSAE is a well known leading Scientific Society  in Japan which comprises of more than 40,000 members. JSAE has been incredibly active in promoting and advancing the development of science technology in particular of automotive and small engine products and improving the quality of life of the people.

 

 

During the whole course of this conference, there will be a technical visit to parts and components factories, Paper presentations, Technical Sessions, Exhibitions , Plenary Sessions , Best Paper Award, Best Presentation Award and of course at the end of the program there will be a tour to this splendid and beautiful island of Penang.

 

MASAAM has been selected to become the anchor host on this event with main committees coming from Industries, Universities, and other government agencies.

 

This event will definitely in one way or another promote tourism industry to Penang in particular and Malaysia in general. There will be about 250-300 participants from 20-30 countries all around the world.

 

Although the dates has been  selected to be on Nov 3-5, 2009, the planning and preparation work has to start now. We are destined to make this event and conference to be one of the most successful event that Malaysia will register in his calendar of history.
