A delegation from Japan , representing the Japan Automobile Research Institute(JARI) and Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association,Inc.(JAMA) met with Malaysian Automotive Association(MAA) and Motorcycle & Scooter Assemblers And Distributors Association of Malaysia(MASAAM) members to discuss on Road Safety Policies in Asean Region at the MAA office in Ara Damansara on 10th October, 2014.
The purpose of this pre-meeting was to investigate, formulate, and to later engage with relevant Governmental organisations in a project on road safety with the aim of reducing road accidents for 2-wheel and 4-wheel vehicles, and including pedestrians and other road users, at large.
A Road Safety Seminar is tentatively planned within the next few months in Malaysia , working in collaboration with Government bodies. Presumably, this would lead to leveling up on safety fundamentals and acknowledgement of best practices in line with WP29 directives on Road Safety.
Other countries targeted under this project on Road Safety by JARI and JAMA are Thailand, Indonesia and Philippines.
